Make 2025 Your Best Year Yet!

How to Make 2025 Your Best Year Yet!

Hey there! Are you ready to make 2025 your best year yet? I know I am. There’s something so refreshing about a new year—it’s like getting a clean slate to redefine your goals and set your sights on something incredible. Over the years, I’ve developed a process to help me (and my clients) set meaningful goals and actually achieve them. Let me share it with you.

Reflect on the Year Behind You

Before you rush into 2025, take a moment to pause and reflect on 2024. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and set aside a few hours—it’s worth the time. Think about the different areas of your life, not just your career. You’re more than your job title, after all! Here are a few questions to get you started:

  • What did I accomplish this year? (Give yourself credit—you’ve probably achieved more than you think!)

  • What goals fell short, and what can I learn from that? (But don’t dwell here. Focus on the wins.)

  • What’s one thing I want to leave behind in 2024?

  • What’s one thing I want to embrace moving forward?

Dream Big: Your Long-Term Vision

Where do you see yourself in five, ten, or even twenty years? Take a moment to dream big. Imagine the life you want and the person you need to be to live it. Your vision is like a compass—it guides every decision you make. Pair this with your core values, the principles that define who you are and who you aspire to become.

Break It Down: Key Areas of Focus

Now that you’ve reflected and dreamed, it’s time to take stock of your life. Consider these areas:

  • Health & Fitness

  • Work/Career

  • Finances

  • Community/Contribution

  • Personal Development

  • Recreation

  • Relationships

Rate your satisfaction in each area on a scale from 1 to 10. Focus your energy on the areas where you feel least fulfilled. Don’t forget to ask yourself: “When am I at my best? What brings me joy?” These questions can reveal your aspirations and help you create a theme for the year. Think of it as your guiding star—a word or phrase like “growth,” “connection,” or “balance.”

Set SMART Goals (But Not Too Many!)

Now comes the fun part: setting your goals. Here’s where you can employ SMART goals—specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based. Keep it simple and manageable. Choose 3-5 goals to focus on for the year. Break them down into bite-sized chunks: 12 months, six months, and three months. Tools like the BestSelf Journal can help you stay on track quarterly.

Commit to Yourself

The most important part? Commit to these goals and hold yourself accountable. There’s something incredibly empowering about keeping promises to yourself. By this time next year, you’ll look back and be amazed at how much you’ve achieved.

So, what are you waiting for? Start today. Reflect, plan, and make 2025 your best year yet. You’ve got this!

What do you think? Do you think this sounds like a plan you can follow?
